Well, it’s because I’ve been involved in planning and shooting more than 4,000 weddings over more than a decade. I’ve won over 20 Australian national and state awards.
Believe me – when it comes to weddings, there’s nothing I don’t know – and trust me………I’ve seen it all. The good, the bad and the ugly!
Working around Australia as a wedding photographer – meant that I spent a lot of time on the road, and usually on my own. A standard wedding day bouncing between preparation locations, the ceremony, shoot locations and the reception – plus the trip there and home – meant I was in my car for up to 6 hours or more.
With so much time to think while driving in my car – I noticed a pattern. There just seemed to be chaos surrounding most weddings. It’s a huge day to prepare and execute, so how on earth are you supposed to know what to do?
There was hardly ever a wedding co-ordinator there on the day – and it became clear to me that couples spent years planning their big day – yet on the wedding day itself – had nobody there to steer the ship. And a ship not steered – is a sinking ship!
They missed out on so many things and forgot a lot of important details.
At many weddings, I spent as much time organising the day as I did taking photos!
I always carried a large suitcase with everything you could possibly need – and I always had to use something from it. I called it my survival kit.
I used my mobile phone to voice record into the speaker hands free while I drove, as it seemed that my time on the road – was the only spare time I had.
With this wealth of information I had to share, I knew I had to somehow combine this along with a wedding planner. Because everyone getting married needs a wedding planner!
